29 Dec Prevalence of Gender Based Violence among Internally Displaced boys and girls in Kabul City, Afghanistan
Gender based violence is a global phenomenon manifested in every aspect of life. It is a violation of human rights and a manifestation of gender discrimination which posed serious threats to the emotional and psychosocial well -being of those who experienced it. Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and in particular sexual violence is a serious, life threatening protection issue, primarily affecting women and children.
Within the framework of War Child UK’s current work with children and young people in Afghanistan, War Child UK would like to conduct a comparative study on the prevalence of Gender Based Violence among children both boys and girls in IDP camp and non-camp setting in Kabul City.
The research key objectives are as follows:
1. To understand the nature, forms and prevalence of Gender-Based Violence among children both boys and girls in Kabul city;
2. To record the evidence required to advocate for legislation and policies addressing Gender-Based Violence by documenting experiences of boys and girls respondents;
3. To encourage culture of awareness on GBV and its impact;
4. To prevent the occurrence of gender based violence;
5. Organize a national consultation to present the findings of the study and identify a set of policy recommendations for addressing and preventing Gender-Based Violence in IDP camps and non – camp settings.
