Description
Groundwater—the main water supply source for Kabul residents has been extensively exploited in the past 2 decades, causing large drawdowns. On average, groundwater level decrease is observed to be about 1m per year, with maximum drawdowns near central Kabul sub-basin boundaries of about 30     m in just 14 years. Large imbalance between groundwater extraction and groundwater recharge is the main reason for these unprecedented groundwater drawdowns in the central Kabul sub-basin.
