AREUO is seeking an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Intern to assist with all aspects of AREUO’s computing and communications requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

The ICT Intern will provide day-to-day support to AREUO staff in the use of information and communication technology. The ICT Intern will be based in Kabul and will report to the ICT Officer.

Under the direct supervision of the above reporting lines, the ICT Intern will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day troubleshooting of AREUO’s LAN components, including internet connectivity, Gmail mailing system, printers, and other network peripherals. From time to time, work on AREUO servers may also be required.
  • Timely checking of all systems, updating anti-virus software, and ensuring that all systems have updated virus definitions.
  • Assisting with the management and safekeeping of the inventory of all ICT-related equipment (this may involve the issuance of computer hardware to staff, receiving returned ICT equipment, etc.)
  • Setting up and maintaining ICT hardware including desktops, laptops, network printers, scanners, and other equipment as required.
  • Upgrading client computer software and hardware under the direct supervision of the ICT Officer.
  • Configuring routers, switches (MikroTik, Cisco, Unifi, etc.), and other network equipment.
  • Configuration of Unifi devices and familiarity with the Unifi ecosystem.
  • Responding to user needs and enquiries regarding network access.
  • Assisting with individual data backups of end-users.
  • Any other appropriate tasks as required by the supervisor.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A graduate of an institute or university in the field of Information and Communications Technology is preferred. Alternatively, possession of MCSE and/or CCNA certifications or equivalent qualifications is also desirable.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, Dari, and Pashto.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP.
  • Excellent computer skills, preferably with ICT experience in Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 10, 11 Professional, Microsoft Office 2013 and 2016, and software firewalls. Knowledge of Fedora and Linux systems administration is also desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience in the installation and technical support of various hardware and software.
  • A highly developed sense of personal integrity and professionalism.

 

SALARY, BENEFITS, AND LOCATION:

The salary for this position is competitive and will be determined commensurate with experience, taking into consideration AREUO’s overall salary scales.
