The Secure Livelihoods Research Consortium Annual Seminar

The Secure Livelihoods Research Consortium Annual Seminar

SLRC Afghanistan – an ODI and AREU partnership and three year research project aiming to investigate how people make their living in fragile and conflict affected environments – had its first year seminar on January 26th to engage national and international actors in Kabul in a discussion around two core themes leading the programme: how good is our understanding and engagement with the logic and performance of the existing social structures in Afghanistan?  And how well do market driven approaches engage with the realities of governance of the market place, the socially embedded nature of economic action and the informal economy?
SLRC and AREU brought together representatives of the civil society, the donors’ community, Afghan Government, and aid agencies aiming to sketch ways forward for Afghanistan.  A summary note from the seminar will be published shortly.
